A. members will try to take sexual advantage of a newcomer. Sexual seduction is no less common in Narcotics Anonymous than any place else. Those who practice indiscriminate seduction do not care who they hurt. Personal gratification takes priority over consideration for their victims. Beware of the "thirteenth steppers" who add vulnerable newcomers to their scores. But whether we avoid being a victim or not, we do not let what happens drive us back to drugs. A. we do not use, no matter what. Professional counseling may help us sort out our relationship and sexual problems, if necessary.
If we only halfheartedly want to quit, or only want to stop using for awhile, the Steps become impossible. A. Until we learn how to do the Steps it is a good idea to try not to get too frantic over anything. Instead of going into a flap when things do not seem to be going our way, it is a good idea to sit down, take a deep breath, and remind ourselves to take it easy. We don't need to resolve our entire future in one day, and taking it easy helps us stay clean. But for the Grace of God We can remember why we are clean.
